Planning Board
Mission Statement:
It is the mission of the New Milford Planning Board to exercise their statutory powers in a manner that is careful and concerned, compliant with the requirements of the Municipal Land Use Law, and observant of the best interests of the residents of the Borough. Every attempt has been made to provide Borough residents with a streamlined land-use application process, and to provide help and assistance to make the application process minimally daunting. Every applicant can expect reasonable application-completion requirements, a fair and impartial hearing, timely decisions, and respectful treatment before the board.
About the Board:
The Planning Board is charged with overseeing the development in the municipality and consists of nine regular members in four Class categories and two alternate members. The Class I member is the Mayor or the Mayor's designee in the Mayor's absence. The Class II member is one of the officials of the municipality other than a member of the governing body, appointed by the Mayor. If a member of the Environmental Commission is also a member of the Planning Board, that member shall be deemed to be the Class II Planning Board Member. The Class III member is a member of the governing body who is appointed by the governing body. The Class IV members consist of six citizens of the municipality and are appointed by the Mayor.
