IMPORTANT NOTICES

A MESSAGE FROM THE TAX OFFICE
The 2nd Quarter 2018 property taxes are payable May 1, 2018.  Interest will accrue back to May 1st on any second quarter payment received after 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 10th.  Please note: 2015 Homestead credits have been applied and revised 2nd quarter tax bills have been mailed to those residents that qualify. Reminder: As of 1/1/18,  the Tax Collector's office can NO LONGER ACCEPT CASH for payment of property taxes as per Borough Ordinance 2017:14.
PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE BACK
On Saturday April 28, 2018 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., the New Milford Police Department will be participating in the DEA Prescription Drug Take Back. Any unwanted medications can be dropped off at the new NMPD headquarters between those hours. Please no liquids or needles.

MESSAGE FROM NMPD
The New Milford Police Department would like to remind residents to properly have their house numbers visible from the street in order for an efficient Police, Fire or EMS response.  Residences without proper house numbers visible from the street have the potential to be issued a Borough Ordinance Summons.  Any questions or concerns, contact P.O Michael Lafrano at the New Milford Police Department (201)-261-1400.

Borough Ordinance Prohibiting Parking on the street is in effect.

NEW! New Milford NO KNOCK Ordinance
All residents of the Borough may register their names, address and/or unit/apartment number with the Borough Clerk to be placed on the No-Knock List, indicating that they do not want canvassers, distributors, solicitors, peddlers, tranient merchants or hawkers of any sort to approach their homes and/or seek contact with the occupants of the registered residence. Bergen Aging & Disability Resource Connection

Established in 1966 with funding through the Older Americans Act, the Bergen County Division of Senior Services has been serving Bergen County's older adults for 50 years. We provide FREE aging information, screenings,and referrals for older adults (60 and older) and their caregivers. Our mission is to help Bergen County older adults, especially those that are homebound or who are frail and/or vulnerable, remain safe, connected, healthy, and involved by offering assistance and suggesting programs that would enable our older population to successfully age in place. Protecting New Jerseyans from Lead in Water

This program is FREE to all New Milford residents who have loved ones with certain disabilities. The Safely Back Home program is designed to provide additional peace of mind for: Parents of children (any age) with Autism, Down Syndrome, or other cognitive disabilities or people with family members that suffer from Alzheimer’s disease, Dementia, or other disabilities that involve wandering, routinely falling and/or becoming unconscious.  Safely Back Home information.

Statewide Respite Care Program - Openings Available

What is the Respite Care Program?  This program established by Chapter 119 of the Public Law in 1987, is designed to provide relief and support to the unpaid caregivers of frail elderly and disabled adults. The Program provides services for elderly and functionally impaired person to relieve their caregivers of the stress arising from the responsibility of providing daily care. Services in Bergen County are coordinated by the Bergen County Department of Human Services, Division on Disability Services through funds provided by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services.  See if you qualify and apply today.
