NJTPA Plan 2045 Outreach - Bergen County’s outreach event will be held at the Garden State Plaza, on Saturday, April 29th at 10am (click flyer for more info)

The NJTPA is holding public outreach events to gather input on the plan around the region. The public is asked about key Plan 2045 topics—Great Places, Safety, Resiliency, Getting Around, Technology, Environment and Economy. An online survey is at njtpa.org/Plan2045

A full house of 28 New Milford residents took part in a “Build Your Own Rain Barrel” event on March 11th. 
The program was well received and participants, including Mayor Subrizi and Recycling Coordinator Julia Burdge, engaged in the process of building rain barrels with Jason and Alex, Ambassadors to  the Hackensack Riverkeeper Coalition.

GBCA Lead Remediation Program          

The GBCA was recently awarded a grant to do FREE lead remediation in one and two family homes.  This program is open to anyone who qualifies and needs it.  Both tenants and homeowners can qualify.  The income limit is 80% of the area median income, which for a household of 1 person is $47,000 per year, for 2 it is $53,700 annually, etc.  There is also Categorical Eligibility; that is, a household is eligible regardless of the family income if at least one person in the household receives at least one of the following benefits:  SSI, TANF, Food Stamps or an Adoption Subsidy. The Bergen County Park System is Looking for you Input!

You are invited to participate in a research study that is being conducted by WOLFRAM HOEFER, who is a Professor in the Landscape Architecture Department at Rutgers University. The purpose of this research is to determine public perceptions of the Bergen County Park system and to obtain input from the public for the ongoing planning efforts. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has placed 14 counties in North, Central and Northern Coastal New Jersey under a drought warning due to ongoing precipitation deficits and deteriorating water-supply conditions, particularly storage levels in reservoirs. Bergen Aging & Disability Resource Connection

Established in 1966 with funding through the Older Americans Act, the Bergen County Division of Senior Services has been serving Bergen County's older adults for 50 years. We provide FREE aging information, screenings,and referrals for older adults (60 and older) and their caregivers. Our mission is to help Bergen County older adults, especially those that are homebound or who are frail and/or vulnerable, remain safe, connected, healthy, and involved by offering assistance and suggesting programs that would enable our older population to successfully age in place. This program is FREE to all New Milford residents who have loved ones with certain disabilities. The Safely Back Home program is designed to provide additional peace of mind for: Parents of children (any age) with Autism, Down Syndrome, or other cognitive disabilities or people with family members that suffer from Alzheimer’s disease, Dementia, or other disabilities that involve wandering, routinely falling and/or becoming unconscious.  Safely Back Home information.

Statewide Respite Care Program - Openings Available

What is the Respite Care Program?

This program established by Chapter 119 of the Public Law in 1987, is designed to provide relief and support to the unpaid caregivers of frail elderly and disabled adults. The Program provides services for elderly and functionally impaired person to relieve their caregivers of the stress arising from the responsibility of providing daily care. Services in Bergen County are coordinated by the Bergen County Department of Human Services, Division on Disability Services through funds provided by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services.  See if you qualify and apply today.
