Senior Services

5/28/21 - Hello All, and Welcome Summer! Please take note of the current calendars and zoom information which are located here on this page.  Though our senior center remains closed at this time, we continue to offer a full virtual calendar of great offerings for body, mind, and spirit!  Please be assured we are working on a reopening plan that will include the return of Senior Transportation and the return to indoor classes and activities at the Senior Center!  This information will be posted on the boro website, and the New Milford Senior Center Facebook page, as well as any boro related Facebook pages.  In addition, all current registered members of the Senior Center will be notified about the new schedule and accompanying procedures and policies.

Outdoor classes will continue at Kennedy Field for New Milford residents only.  Outdoor Tai Chi and Walking will continue on Wednesday mornings.  Low Impact Cardio will be on 9 am on Friday mornings.  Masks are no longer required to be worn for the outdoor classes regardless of vaccination status.  All participants will be required to sign a Covid-19 Waiver before each class.   In the event of rain or extreme hot weather, cancellations will be posted on the Senior Center Facebook page.  If you are a regular NM exercise attendee, you will also be notified through email or text.  If it is raining, there will never be class outside!  In the event of rain, Wednesday Tai Chi and Friday aerobics will switch to a virtual class on Facebook Live.   Remember, the Facebook page is a public page, which means there is no need to have a Facebook account to access the videos, live or recorded.  Simply google “New Milford Senior Center Facebook Page.” Or use this handy “Find Us On Facebook” button here on this page!

Please note that Virtual Bingo will now be conducted weekly every Tuesday morning at 10:30 am  on Zoom.  There is a new Zoom exercise class with Joanne Van Dien, - Monday afternoons at 2pm.

With all zoom events, email invitations will be mailed out at least 24 hours in advance.  New members are always welcome.  Please email me to be on the list for any zoom events.  Anyone who has previously participated in a particular zoom will automatically be emailed, there is no need to let me know.  “New” seniors who’d like to sign up can register through email, just email  and the registration waiver form will be sent to you.

Please enjoy our June activities listed here!  Make early summer your time to learn zoom,  try a new class or meet new friends through games or our Monday morning Coffee Talks!

Stay New Milford Strong!

2021 Senior Center Rules and Policies
The following procedure applies to members, prospective members, and guests (collectively, “members”) who are deemed disruptive and exhibiting inappropriate behavior.
Membership is open to all seniors, (60 years of age and older,) who can engage in the activities of daily living, independently, or with assistance from their escort, aide, or family member, including, but not limited to personal care and hygiene.  The Director of the New Milford Senior Activity Center reserves the right to reverse this decision at a later date, based on observation, and staff recommendations.
Trial Basis- At the request of a member or a member’s family, the Director may offer participation on a conditional basis to a member.  The Director reserves the right to refuse to enroll a person who requires individual care beyond the scope offered by the New Milford Senior Activity Center.
Referral- The Director may refer the member and his/her family to services better suited to the member’s needs.
Disruptive or Inappropriate Behavior-
Any behavior by a member, which negatively affects the safety of the New Milford Senior Activity Center and its participants, may result in immediate exclusion.  Examples of this behavior are assault and battery, sexual, physical, and verbal abuse and harassment, incontinence/inability to toilet themselves, disorientation, property damage, or any other behavior that is deemed inappropriate at the New Milford Senior Activity Center and property.  Examples of inappropriate behavior include foul language, racist comments, bullying or abusive language, political comments, inability to stay awake, poor hygiene, or refusal to provide registration information, which includes name, address, phone, and date of birth.
When the Director or Staff learns, either through reports or by direct observation, that a member is disruptive or acting inappropriately while at the New Milford Senior Activity Center, the Director or Staff may informally identify the problem to the offending member and ask for a change in behavior before invoking a formal response.  The escalating formal responses are:
Verbal Warning- The member is to be informed of the behavior causing disruption and will be asked to correct the behavior.  Family members will be contacted when appropriate.  If necessary, Boro Administrator and/or Director of Social Services will also be contacted.
Written Warning- The member has failed to remedy the problem and is subject to expulsion if the problem behavior is not corrected.
