Mission Statement:
It is the mission of the New Milford Zoning Board of Adjustment to exercise their statutory powers in a manner that is careful and concerned, compliant with the requirements of the Municipal Land Use Law, and observant of the best interests of the residents of the Borough. Every attempt has been made to provide Borough residents with a streamlined land-use application process, and to provide help and assistance to make the application process minimally daunting. Every applicant can expect reasonable application-completion requirements, a fair and impartial hearing, timely decisions, and respectful treatment before the board.
About the Board:
The Zoning Board of Adjustment consists of seven members and two alternate members, each appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council. The term of each regular member is four years and each alternate member is two years.
The purpose of the Board is to hear and decide appeals concerning any order, requirement, decision, or refusal made by an administrative officer concerning a zoning ordinance. The Board is further empowered to hear and decide requests for the interpretation of the zoning map or zoning ordinance and grant variances in particular cases for special reasons.
