January 8, 2021
Beginning now, Holy Name Medical Center is providing the best therapy for those in the community with early Covid-19 infection. This is a single infusion of antibodies against the virus given within the first seven days of infection. These antibodies were found to be the first major breakthrough when they became available in late October. They are well tolerated and synthesized in the lab, not a blood product. Now, the US Department of Health and Human Services is providing this medication and directs that we reach as many high risk people as possible for testing and treatment.
Those risks are:
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • Immune disorders
  • Age of at least 65 years
  • Age of 55 with hypertension, heart or lung problems
  • Or other less common illnesses
If you or someone you know is sick with Covid-19 and has a positive test, ask your doctor make the referral to Holy Name Medical Center for evaluation for treatment. You can get a test at Holy Name if it hasn’t been done by calling 201 833-3313. There is no out of pocket cost to the patient for testing or infusion.
